The problem : When trying to save or open a scene, Maya was refusing to save. I already knew it could be from the path, beacause it had non-ascii characters in it (by default it was C:\Users\Frédéric\maya\).

The solution : I decided to change that default path. To do that, I went to the environment variable settings in Windows (from Windows 7 : Control Panel -> System & Security -> System -> Advanced Sytem Parameters -> Environment Variables).
There, click on New (the upper button is for your username only, and the bottom one is for all the system. If you multiple users use Maya on the same computer, it is best to use the bottom button). On the new screen, write for the name : MAYA_APP_DIR (must write exactly like that, caps and all), and for the value of variable, write the path you want the default Maya directory to save (in my case, C:\Users\Frederic\maya\ -> no more accents here).
Then, restart Maya (you can also copy the content of your old folder into your new one to conserve preferences before restarting) and test the saving and opening options. It should work now !
